Lewis and Betty Nolan of Memphis, TN, have long enjoyed travel. As Vice President of Communications at Schering-Plough Health Care Products until his early retirement in 1996, Lewis traveled on business a great deal. Betty taught culinary arts in a Memphis high school until her retirement in 2007. Her long summer holidays and his company?s liberal vacation policy afforded them time to visit much of the United States and many other countries. During their travels, Betty took photos and Lewis took notes.

This site recounts their longer trips ? to Europe, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. A sister site, Nolan Travels: Getaways, recounts shorter trips taken from 1993 thru 2009 to places like Nashville, TN; Washington, D.C.; Gulf Shores, AL; West Point, MS, Sacramento, California and Tubac, Arizona. Getaways 2010 recounts short trips taken beginning in 2010.

Additional photos from recent trips to Boston, the Ozark Mountains, and Gulf Shores, AL are posted at http://kodakgallery.com, sign in and search required.

A journalist and former business editor for the Memphis Commercial Appeal, Lewis has written a book on his family history,  Nolan-Miller Family History. and created online news letters for the 1980s and 1990s alumni of Plough, Inc. Update 3030; and alumni of Alpha Sigma Phi's Gamma Nu chapter at Sacramento State College (now California State University at Sacramento) Siggy Raider.

He has also documented his adventures as a swim coach at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club,

Sacramento, CA in the 1960s and early 1970s.
